Today we have a series of short documentaries made by newcomer youth as a part of the Saskatoon Open Door Society’s Radio & Podcast Podcamp program, where immigrant and refugee youth learn how to write, record, and edit their own episodes.
First, we hear Miheret (Mih-heh-ret) tell us about a trip she was able to take to a leadership conference in New Brunswick. After the break, we hear Ziyu break down the phenomenon of being ghosted by people you thought were your friends as well as Azwa interviewing her friend Danielle about the death of her sister and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in Canada. That segment is heavier than the others, so please consider this a warning about its content. Thank you to all the youth who contributed their stories for our youth showcase!
